Rob's journey in artificial intelligence is rooted in a strong academic foundation, researching Computational Linguistics for his Master's Degree. His professional career took flight during an eight-year tenure at Amazon, where he made significant contributions to Alexa. Rob's work spanned crucial areas such as developing scalable high-throughput knowledge graph ingestion pipelines, and pioneering multilingual natural language generation for graph-based question answering. In his later years at Amazon, Rob led teams working on foundational large language models, engineering distributed fine-tuning infrastructure and creating efficient evaluation frameworks for LLM-augmented workflows. This blend of deep technical expertise and industry-leading experience provided Rob with a unique perspective on AI's potential and limitations. It was this insight that ultimately inspired the creation of Mind Mage, where Rob aims to push the boundaries of AI by integrating symbolic approaches with cutting-edge language models.
The Birth of Mind Mage
Rob's experience at the forefront of AI development led him to a crucial realization: while major tech companies are focussed on replicating currently successful AI approaches, there's a hesitancy to invest in truly novel ideas. Recognizing the untapped potential of symbolic AI to complement and enhance current AI systems, Rob co-founded Mind Mage to bridge this gap.
At Mind Mage, Rob serves as the Chief Technology Officer, dedicated to developing neuro-symbolic AI solutions that combine the strengths of knowledge graphs and large language models. His vision is to create AI systems that are not only more capable but also more reliable and interpretable.

When he's not revolutionizing AI, Rob can often be found immersed in the world of board games. An avid player, he particularly enjoys tabletop role-playing games, which he sees as a perfect blend of storytelling, strategy, and collaborative problem-solving – skills that translate seamlessly into his work in AI development.
